GivingPoint is excited to pilot a new format for our Social Innovators Academy program, starting this fall!
We are offering our traditional 10-month program over the course of one semester, so that students who participate in specific sports or extracurriculars can better fit the SIA program into their schedule.
Additionally, we are hosting the program over the course of five Saturdays, instead of after school on weeknights.
This Saturday schedule will involve two to three workshops and built in time to work on project development and receive feedback and support from the GivingPoint staff and SIA peers.
The workshops covered over the course of SIA include: social entrepreneurship, research and development, goal setting, project planning, event planning, budgeting, development and fundraising, perfecting your pitch, networking, marketing, strategic leadership, overcoming adversity, sustainability, and the nonprofit process.
Additionally, we have built in time for things such as team building, a nonprofit panel, and practicing and perfecting your pitch. On the day of the final workshop, there will be short project presentations from all the SIA students, and a celebration with friends and family.
These Saturday sessions will take place from 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM. Lunch will be provided at each workshop. We are finalizing workshop locations, which will take place between Downtown Atlanta and North Fulton.
The schedule for fall semester 2019 is:
- Saturday August 24th
- Saturday September 14th
- Saturday October 19th
- Saturday November 2nd
- Saturday November 16th
We are very excited to be able to expand our program offerings to include this new Saturday schedule, and are looking forward to working with a great group of social innovators!
