The school year is back in full force here at GivingPoint! Classes have started, extracurriculars are up and running, and our amazing students are out serving their communities.

Social Innovators Academy

This was a great month for our Social Innovators Academy. We continued our school-year program with our South Fulton and North Fulton groups, covering the topic of Budgeting and Resource Development. To read more about these workshops, check out the full recap on the website! As always, thank you to our presenters and locations who made this possible. We appreciate you!

Social Innovators Academy at Milton High School

We also kicked off our first ever in-school Social Innovators Academy programming, at Milton High School! We are working with a group of T.A.G. students to share our social entrepreneurship curriculum over the course of the semester, helping them put their passion to action! We are super grateful for the opportunity to share our programming with a new group of students.

Check out two recent write ups about the program, from North Fulton Neighbor here and from Fulton County Schools here!

Collaborations

Some notable collaborations this past month include presenting to a variety of local high schools, presenting at Milton’s Rotary Club meeting, and working with Learning To Give, a fellow nonprofit focused on philanthropy education. We are excited to continue to grow these partnerships as the year continues!

Saying Farewell to James

This month we had to say goodbye to one of our awesome staff members as he transitions into a new opportunity in a leadership position at a local school. James has been an integral part of the GivingPoint team and will be missed. Read on for his farewell message:

It is with a heavy heart, but a hopeful spirit that I announce that I am transitioning out of my position with GivingPoint.

I believe that the work that GivingPoint is involved in is vitally important to the lives of students and to the benefit of people all over this nation. It has been an honor to be an active part of the organization, to see it grow, and to see the passion and potential of students become reality. I believe that GivingPoint is unique in its commitment to support and promote the passions of young adults. Please continue to support this organization and its mission to build a generation of givers.

Thank you to all the students, staff, and fans for allowing me the chance to be a part of this great work. Yours in service, James Aucoin

Student Spotlight

Saachi and Manāna

  • Manāna is a charity organization dedicated to creating joyful occasions for underprivileged, refugee, and sick children.
  • GivingPoint alum Saachi created the program in 2014 while she was in high school in Atlanta, and then put the program on hold when she graduated and moved to college
  • She now is operating two Manāna groups, one in Atlanta, with her existing relationships, and building one in Philadelphia, where she attends college.
  • Great work to everyone helping build Manāna up and out to support more children!

Thank you for your continued support of GivingPoint and all of our incredible students. We are looking forward to everything coming up for the rest of 2018!
