February was a busy month for GivingPoint! We hosted multiple workshops for our awesome students, and we were busy at work behind-the-scenes preparing for a lot of exciting things launching in March.

GivingPoint Institute: Branding and Marketing

On February 6th, we hosted our Branding and Marketing workshop for GivingPoint Institute at VOX ATL. Tai Anderson, a member of GivingPoint’s Board of Directors and the Marketing Director for Supreme Lending Southeast, was our presenter. Tai taught our GPI students how to “market like a R.O.C.K.S.T.A.R.” and shared the importance of good branding and marketing for the GPI students’ projects.

GivingPoint Institute Spotlight: Lauren N.

Speaking of our rockstar GPI students, Lauren N. launched the first event for her GPI project, tentatively titled Project Care, on February 17th! Lauren brought a group of student volunteers to a local assisted living community to play games and spend time with the residents. Lauren is excited to continue building these relationships and to partner with some local nonprofits to host collaborative events in the future.

GivingPoint Institute: Grant Writing

On February 21st we hosted our second grant-writing workshop for our GPI students, led by Danny Blitch, a certified Grant Professional and administrator for the city of Roswell. Each GPI student will have to submit a grant request to receive funding for their upcoming projects, so Danny walked them through what is typically required on a grant application and what they can expect from the GivingPoint Grant application.

College Prep series

We wrapped up February with the next workshop in our College Prep series, focused on resume writing, in collaboration with the Stamps Foundation. Students were led by GivingPoint’s Nyaboke Machini through resume best practices, and then met with Stamps Foundation’s Randy McDow for one-on-one resume reviews.

 

GivingPoint Updates

We have a lot of exciting things coming up in March, beginning with launching our new and improved website! We have been working hard with Sol Design Co. to create a website that is beautiful, functional, and helps share the GivingPoint story. We can’t wait for you to see the new and improved GivingPoint.

Additionally, along with the website launch, we are launching an upgraded hours-tracking platform. We are partnering with MobileServe to allow our GivingPoint students to track hours in a much more streamlined fashion, with built-in verification options for nonprofits and schools, including geo-tagging, signatures, and more!

GivingPoint is also very excited to be included in the Atlanta-area Brackets For Good competition! Brackets for Good (BFG) is an online, bracket-style fundraising tournament for philanthropic communities across the United States, and we are honored to be included. GivingPoint Institute: Applications

Last but not least, keep an eye out for our GivingPoint Institute applications to launch on Monday March 5th! We are looking forward to hosting our first-ever Summer Institutes in June of this year, and then leading two cohorts, based in Atlanta and North Fulton, through the program this fall.
